This is a small none filtered pond pump. I use it in my 8x10 pond to aerate the water. The pump is not design to use a filter to operate. the housing prevents the pump from sucking up big debris that may stop it from running. However, if your pond has a lot of dirt particles, algae the holes on the housing will get clogged up. After 4 days of being in my pond I noticed the buildup starting to occur. I wrapped the pump with Marineland PA0100 Filter Pad, 312-Square Inch, Bondedand the problem is solved. The pump has been running continuously for 2 weeks without issues and it moves the water at a decent rate so I am happy.
